SINtopia

–––

Marousa Korontzi, Elias Tsoutsanis

Εvery island is an osmosis of natural beauty, culture and earthly pleasures. The pleasures recognizing the power they exert on man and consequently on the island are cut off from the natural and cultural element. Autonomy leads to swelling bulk in turning pleasure into sin. This is how SINtopia is created. The dipole that is developed aims to bring to the surface the way in which the visitor perceives the island and what he seeks when coming to it. How will the character of tourism be affected? Where will this coexistence lead? Is a SINtopia enough to make the tourist forget the importance of the nature and culture of an island for man?

SINtopia is a cube that contains the main pleasures of visitors to the island and are listed as sins in Dante's Hell. Greed, lust, sloth, greed. The system consists of a spatial network that allows the connection between them and navigation in the empty space of the volume. The entrance and point of contact of the two poles is placed outside the church closest to the port symbolically, because the church is an important element of the island's culture. Each unit has its own shell and an internal structure that enhances the desire for enjoyment. Every sin translates into event, space and movement.
